Womb of Eden, by Brooke Bowen, oil on canvas, 40” x 30”, framed.
In the words of the artist:
“I imagine the story of Adam and Eve not as an exile, but as a birth. In womb of Eden or woman lives in a barren landscape, yet from her body a garden flourishes – lush, alive, and secret. Within her, Adam and Eve are held in a protected space. While God may have sent them into the world, it is the goddess who grew them, nurtured them, and held them close until they chose to step into knowledge. This painting is about origin, protection, and the feminine as the first sanctuary.”
