“My work is derived from an imagined botanical world that I've been building over many years. These landscapes and plant portraits serve as metaphors and allegorical explorations of emotional, psychological, and metaphysical states. Much of my imagery is set in foggy flooded forests, drawing inspiration from ancient descriptions of mystical forests. The painting Thrive Above Water depicts a flower blooming above water in a foggy lagoon. To me, this represents the immense effort required for the flower, and each of us, to finally become visible above "water." The "water" in this context can be interpreted flexibly: perhaps as an oppressive external barrier, a layer of self that restricts our freedom, or the natural cloaking of our roots and past experiences that, despite not being visible, exist in tandem with the present moment.”
