“This is the dreamlike light and landscape of Ireland, it is the minds eye of what a lot of the world might imagine Ireland to be and on some misty mornings, it is just that. I was on a road trip through the Cork and Kerry mountains when I happened upon a little slice of nature's heaven, light draping itself over lightly snow dusted mountains, illuminating and ancient. While walking into this Eden, I startled a family of pheasant and up they flew. I could hear stag bellowing and I could feel the crisp cold air pinching in my lungs. I had an immense feeling of calm, awe, and respect… This was life imitating art. When I got back to the studio I started on this piece, imaging the great stag calling out over the valley, turning this into my homage to Nature and the realization that I am a part of this great enchanted garden of Ireland.”
